Room Parent Volunteers

 

Room parents serve as liaison between the teacher and classroom parents during the year, and organize and take pictures at events and activities for the class.  Each class has two room parents.  As a courtesy to other potential room parents, a parent typically may not serve in more than one classroom per school year.  Interested in serving as a Room Parent?  You can sign-up during Back-to-School Sign-up (BSSU), or contact the Room Parent Chair

COMMUNICATIONs

  • Maintains communications between teacher and class parents

  • Recruit volunteers for teacher's helper, field trips and other class projects

  • Organize class roster

  • Work with teacher to coordinate two class parties

  • Work with Photography Room Parent to take and/or collect photos for the Hyer yearbook

PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Take pictures at class parties and events, as well as casual shots from everyday school life

  • Upload pictures to the yearbook website throughout the Fall and Spring semesters

  • Coordinate the class yearbook page with the support of the PTA Yearbook Chair

These volunteer opportunities are available for sign-up during Back-to-School Sign-up (BSSU). To learn more select the area of interest and/or contact the appropriate PTA Chair.  Most shifts requires between 1 to 2.5 hours per month.

Volunteer as a server or cashier in the cafeteria.  Students are so excited to see their parents in the cafeteria, and for many cafeteria volunteers it is a true highlight of their Hyer experience!  Volunteers are invited to have lunch after their shift.  â€‹Shift: 2 hour shift, once a month.  Contact Volunter Cafeteria Chair

Volunteer to sell Hyer spirit wear and supplies.  Students love visiting the Husky Shop before school, which is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Shift: 1 hour shift, once a month from 7:25 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.  Contact Husky Shop Chair

This is your chance to garden like a pro!  Help Farmer Kim with weekly maintenance tasks that will vary by month depending on growth cycles, as well as one-time projects.  This educational program is fully funded by the PTA, and students are proud to share the garden's bounty with their family.  Contact Grounds Chair

Event Volunteers

Event Volunteers

 

Volunteer shifts include library shifts (recurring monthly) and classroom party helpers (one-time shifts).  Other one-time specific opportunities will be communicated by the teacher which may include mystery readers and field trip helpers.  Opportunities are added throughout the year and will be communicated via the Husky Herald.
